Tangible Sound: Arrival to a Higher Ground - April 25, 2026 to September 27, 2026

Tangible Sound: Arrival to a Higher Ground Opens April 25, 2026 at the Chicago Cultural Center

Step inside the thunderous sound of a taiko drum. Feel enveloped by the sinuous lines of a saxophone, cello, or bass. Let your body become part of a living landscape of color, texture, and movement that resonates with the bone-tingling vibrations in your ears.

Tangible Sound: Arrival to a Higher Ground transforms the raw power of creative improvised music into a sensory, celebratory experience. Photographer Lauren Deutsch and filmmaker Jonathan Woods, together with the Tangible Sound Collaborative, have created a multi-media, three gallery immersive exhibition that is inspired by the legacy of creative improvised music in Chicago.
